GLASTONBURY

The main stage at Glastonbury is the Pyramid stage and it's easy to see why.  It's a big stage with as much space behind the curtain as in front of it.  The stage looks out on a vast green field that slopes down to the stage.  There are three giant TV screens visible from the audience and two cameramen following Gilbert's every move.  Gilbert was the second act on stage following Martina Topley Bird and went on stage at 12:50.  The set of 16 songs lasted an hour.  There was meant to be a duet on Matrimony with Reverend And The Makers but for some reason it never materialised.

For the purpose of this report the personnel on stage were:

String Quartet: Laura Stanford [violin], Eleanor Stanford [violin], Amy Stanford [viola] and Jessica Cox [cello].

Band: Martin Ditcham [drums + percussion], Bill Shanley [guitars] and Nick Scott [bass].

Backing Vocals: Charlotte James and Niamh McNally.

Saxophone, Flute & Harmonica: Julian Webster Greaves.

Keyboard and Accordion: Mick Parker.
