The tour moved on to Limerick, a distance of 102 kilometres.
Many of the comments between songs were similar to last night's but they differed in some places.
1st HALF
DISAPPEARAt 8.05 p.m. Gilbert walked on stage and began the show.
THE THING IS - [From the album "A STRANGER IN MY OWN BACK YARD"]Gilbert mentioned that it felt like Spring today as it had rained all day the day before in Galway.
NOTHING RHYMED - [From the album "HIMSELF"]The crowd cheered loudly upon hearing the opening bars of the song causing Gilbert to stop and jokingly say "there's no need for me to continue this one" after such a good reaction.
NO MATTER HOW I TRYAfter the song Gilbert mentioned how people are often caught out by the false ending just before "I remember our first anniversary". He said he had been asked was it because the fans were new and he replied "no it was just that the song was out so bloody long ago".
BECAUSE OF YOU - [From the album "BY LARRY" / "THE LITTLE ALBUM"]Gilbert mentioned Spike Milligan again calling him a comic genius. He also referred to Paul McCartney's book of poetry. In his opinion lyrics are not poetry and he felt it wasn't wise to separate them from the music as it was the whole package (music and lyrics) that evoked feelings and memories within people.
WE WILLIt was obvious at this stage that Gilbert was having a good time. He was smiling a lot and seemed very relaxed and was obviously enjoying himself.
HAVE IT - [From the album "IRLISH"]
Gilbert mentioned last night's false start but this time it went perfectly.
MISS MY LOVE TODAY - [From the album "SOUTHPAW"]Gilbert changed to his second keyboard (DX7) for this song.
STICK IN THE MUD - [From the album "FROBISHER DRIVE / IN THE KEY OF G"]Gilbert recalled being in Australia last year where he played four concerts. He hadn't gone there at the height of his success in the early seventies instead preferring to stay at home so as to be able to devote as much time as possible to the all important task of song writing. He said it was weird to step out on the stage and say "it's nice to be in here in Brisbane after thirty years".
CLAIR - [From the album "BACK TO FRONT"]Apparently anytime Gilbert is seen with a small child, he is asked by somebody somewhere if the child is Clair.
SOMETIMES - [From the album "SOUNDS OF THE LOOP"]
THE WAY THINGS USED TO BE - [From the album "FROBISHER DRIVE / IN THE KEY OF G"]Gilbert changed again to his other keyboard for this song.
He related his experience of playing the Blue Note Club in Japan last October. Seemingly patrons of the club can have a meal while the show is on. The closeness of the stage to the dining area coupled with the natural shyness of the Japanese fans almost caused a few of them to have heart attacks when Gilbert changed keyboards and sat close to them.
WHAT'S IN A KISS? - [From the album "OFF CENTRE"]"You might know this one"
FOREVER WONDERING - [From the album "FROBISHER DRIVE"]This was the first of two additions to last night's programme. Gilbert said it was one of a few Fats Domino type songs that he has done. As a piano player, this type of song goes with the territory, he said. He felt it was a wonderful opening riff and if Fats owned the rights to it he would own Las Vegas instead of just playing there.
HOLD ON TO WHAT YOU GOT - [From the album "BY LARRY / THE LITTLE ALBUM"]Mick Parker backed Gilbert with the piano-accordion. Gilbert told us that as one one six children growing up in an Irish family there would often be sing-songs and the piano-accordion would be brought out and that he disliked it. But now that he has grown older he had learned to appreciate it and has come to like the instrument.
THUNDER AND LIGHTNING - [From the album "HIMSELF"]Gilbert really rocked the place with this one, very ably backed by Mick Parker on the organ.
THE INTERVAL WAS FROM 9.15 p.m. UNTIL 9.45p.m.
2nd HALF
A FRIEND OF MINE - [From the album "I'M A WRITER NOT A FIGHTER"]
ME - [From the album "IRLISH"]
SAY GOODBYE - [From the album "IRLISH"]This was the second addition to last night's programme. This is the version of the song that will be on the Irish release of "Irlish". It had the Spanish chorus instead of the Japanese one. This was a real foot-tapper and Gilbert himself said that he found it difficult to stay seated while singing this song. "Eat your heart out Ricky Martin" he quipped.

WATER MUSIC - [From the album "IRLISH"]
In Japan when the backing track for this song began, the fans were looking up to the roof thinking that it was raining or that there was a leak.
WHO WAS IT? - [From the album "BACK TO FRONT"]No problem with the sound effects tonight. e.g. breaking glass, thunder, dog barking.
THE MARRIAGE MACHINE - [From the album "A STRANGER IN MY OWN BACK YARD"]Again Gilbert played snippets of two songs he is currently working on. As each concert goes by I am catching a little bit more of the lyrics, so by the final concert I hope to have them all.
A WOMAN'S PLACE - [From the album "A STRANGER IN MY OWN BACK YARD"]Tonight in the men versus woman singing competition it was a clear victory for the woman. The men started poorly and although they improved, the woman were way too strong for them.
MR. MOODY'S GARDENGilbert told us that during 1967/68/69 he was a struggling artist. How his first single on CBS sold one copy, his second single sold ten copies, all returned. He then moved to Major-Minor which was owned by Phil Solomon's who was a director of Radio Caroline. His first song on Major-Minor, I Wish I Could Cry, he felt was destroyed, but that he was allowed record the b-side to his own liking. The b-side was Mr. Moody's Garden.
WHAT COULD BE NICER (MUM THE KETTLE'S BOILING) - [From the album "BACK TO FRONT"]
OOH-WAKKA-DOO-WAKKA-DAY
This time there were six Irish dancers instead of four and they brought the house down. Although this shot only show four dancers, believe me there were six, it's just that I was so close to them.
ALONE AGAIN (NATURALLY)

MATRIMONY - [From the album "HIMSELF"]
GET DOWN - [From the album "I'M A WRITER NOT A FIGHTER"]
THE SHOW ENDED AT 10.50p.m.
After the show we were brought in, in groups of four to Gilbert's dressing room. Gilbert was talking to two fans as we entered the room. When he finished I approached him and shook his hand and told how much I had enjoyed the show. He was smiling, he was relaxed, he was very friendly and accommodating. He was only too pleased to sign autographs and pose for photographs.
